Still having Problems downloading timetables?

Sony Ericsson T616 A number of users have reported issues with some Sony Ericsson devices specifically the T616. We have researched this issue and recommend the follow procedure:
  1. Contact your mobile phone service provider (e.g. Optus, Telstra, Vodafone) and validate the WAP and Data Comms. configuration settings on your phone. This should always be your first call as many mobile phone operators have their own unique configuration settings
  2. Try using the Sony Ericsson WAP Configurator from the browser on your mobile phone here Sony Ericsson or from your PCs browser Sony Ericsson Product Support
  3. Disable Data Compression and Header Compression from the WAP Data Account Settings on your phone - from the T616 Main Menu, Select - Connect - Data Comm. - Data Accounts - Select your WAP data account (refer to your mobile phone provider) - Edit - Advanced Settings - Data Compression=off, Header Compr=off

I could download and install Nomad™, but now I can't download Configuration Data to my phone. We have written Nomad™ to the MIDP1.0 specification. The specification is a little vague in some areas, but Nomad™ works properly on those phones that have accurate implementations of the specification. We have found that the vast majority of problems with downloading are the result of the APN setting in the phone. The APN is the "gateway" used by the phone to talk to the Internet. Frequently, the APN is set up for WAP communications by the service provider. This prevents Nomad™ from talking to our server. You need to setup an INTERNET APN - contact your service provider for further details.

Why am I still getting a problem downloading timetables?

Walled Gardens - Some service providers actively prevent users from accessing 3rd party sites such as us - they use so-called "walled gardens" to try and maximize revenue from their users by walling them in to their internet sites and servers. Contact your service provider and tell them to lift any blocks or bars they have on external web sites or downloading external applications from your service. This approach has proved successful for users with Vodafone Live in the UK. For some phones there are workarounds for the walled garden issue in the uk - for the Motorola a920, a925 and a1000, you can put the phone on the cradle, and after connecting to your pc simply switch the phone to 'aeroplane mode'. If your pc is connected to the internet then so will your phone, and you can access jnomad.com timetables and beyond.
