Your mobile phone is a very simple computing device and we were limited in terms of providing on-phone help. So we've made Nomad™ very simple to use! Nevertheless, you can Press Keypad 0 for Help about any screen. If you're having difficulties please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page section for handy tips.
Our most commonly reported issue is not with Nomad™ but caused by your mobile phone settings. Nomad™ requires that your phone's Access Point Name (APN) configuration is set to a Internet APN and not just a WAP APN. Check with FileSaveUs for general GPRS / APN settings or access these Mobile Phone Operator support services:

Blackberry Users

The current version of Nomad™ was not specifically designed to run on Blackberry (RIM) devices but like many Java based applications it can be run on any Java compatible Blackberry. For a full list of Java compatible devices check here. Blackberries also require their APN to be configured correctly in order to run Nomad. This site Pinstack contains a lot of information about how to configure your Blackberry and a full list of APNs can be found here.

Common UK Blackberry APN settings are shown below:
Blackberry O2 Settings
Menu > Settings > Advanced Options > TCP
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: mobileweb
Password : password

Blackberry Vodafone Settings
Menu > Settings > Advanced Options > TCP
APN: internet
Username: web
Password : web

Blackberry Orange Settings
Menu > Settings > Advanced Options > TCP
APN: orangeinternet
Username: user
Password :pass


On-line User Guide

The On-line User Guide will guide you through all the components of Nomad™ and is specially formatted for printing. You should be able to fold the guide to a credit-card size. NOTE: If you don't have it already installed, you'll need to get the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the user guide.


Confused or still having a problem? Try calling your Mobile Phone Company Customer Support desk and tell them you need your APN configured for Internet access and not just WAP.
